This bucket list item was solidified after months of listening to my favorite financial podcasts and starting on my own FIRE journey.
When I added this goal (probably in Fall/Winter 2020) I was still about $32K away from the goal I landed on, “to have a net worth of $275K”. Trying to be realistic about what I could achieve (I needed to be able to check it off the bucket list after all), but still knowing that $30K is a huge number, daunting actually, it was on theme (30 before 30) and so I stuck with it.
The date I have this as “completed” above is the month end that I surpassed the initial goal, which of course is mostly due to my 401K contributions (but more so market growth) and my generous mom sprinkling so cash into my account every once in a while.
However as I’m writing this (just a couple days shy of 30 years old) I’ve not only surpassed $300K (July 2021) but I recently reached $330K.
I’ve still got a while before my buying a home dreams come true (20% down-payments are unreal here in Southern California), but here is to hoping that this growth I’ve started continues.
