Q2 2021 Accountability Check

2021 Financial Goals

#1) 10% net worth growth- Currently at a 23% net growth! ✅
#2) Create and monitor a monthly budget- I finally sat down and made a rough budget, and consistently recorded what a spend in a month. Some hiccups and bigger unplanned pet expenses but overall trending to have a more realistic budget for July!
#3 Review spending and remove unnecessary line items-consistent with Q1 I’ve cut some small things hoping once the budget trends for a couple months I’ll have a better idea of what I can let go of.
#4) Increase my 401K contributions- I increased earlier this year from 10% to 15% ✅
#5) Move majority of additional 2021 raises/promotion/bonus income to savings for a house- Q1 explanation applies my raise is effective July 1st, so this will be more predominantly impactful beginning in Q3 and bonuses are paid out in Sept/Oct so again impact will fall in Q3/Q4’s update.
#6) Take a college course on Real Estate- Just finished my final for this course (Real Estate Finance) ✅
#7) Find more Financial Independence podcasts- The price of avocado toast and friends on fire are still tied for favorite, although I have recent begun enjoying Financial Feminist. Trying out Frugal Friends & couple money podcast here shortly!

2021 Personal Goals

#1) Read 30 books this year- As of March 31st I’ve read/listed to 23 books/audio books, on the 24th (In five years by Rebecca Serle)
#2) Finish the 30 before 30 bucket list- We’ll the blog posts were slow this Q, but only 7 items on the list and a blank spot are left/not completely finished.
#3) Declutter the office and closet- while we did a lot of house cleaning this past holiday weekend, the closet has yet to be tackled. I’m hoping for September.
#4) Write on the blog more consistently- Still quite a few drafts (whoops) and hopefully back to some regularly scheduled posting in the fall.

2021 Health Goals

#1) Drink all the water (100 oz a day)- How do people actually do this? Still hanging around 30-50 oz a day, want to be my water buddy? I need one.
#2) Lower my blood pressure- I’m at a studio now on average 2 days a week, with a goal for the fall to be 3 a week (deadlines are work in July). Adding a smaller goal for myself until that is regularly a thing > 2 classes a week and a 15 minutes intentional walk (not with the dog) a day.
#3) Explore new surroundings by foot (Anaheim)- tried to go to an angels game (canceled due to covid), been to backstreet brewery and to golden road now a couple of times. Hoping to explore more once the weather cools a little.
#4) More meatless Monday’s- I’ve got some work to do! 8 more, I’ve got 1 planned for July, someone always seems to ruin the plans though…
#5) Use massage credits more often and consistently – been quite a few times to hand and stone and made a trip with the family to glen ivy for a much needed day.
