Where it all began

Hi! Welcome to my 30 before 30 bucket list.

This list began as a reminder that I didn’t finish my 25 things while I’m 25 bucket list. To be really honest, it started as a reminder of my inability to finish something. Sure I did some big things becasue of that list (back in 2016/2017), but there were a lot of things I didn’t get to do before I turned 26. That original list started the year my dad passed away. I’m sure we’ll get into THAT here soon (somewhere around #7), but loosing my dad made me realize how precious time is.

So I decided to make a list. Now I just had to actually finish it… Do people ever actually know what they want the WHOLE list to look like? I could barely think of my original list of 25 things, there was no way i’d get all the way to 30 this time. I didn’t and as I am writing this on June 30th 2020 I still don’t have 30.

Things I learned creating my list:

  • not everything on the list needed to be BIG. That is the #1 reason why I wasn’t successful in my first list. So I added the small things, things that weren’t going to change my life, but maybe it would make my life a little easier/fun for a minute.
  • it is okay though to want some BIG things. Traveling and experiences create amazing memories and you might not get to do them later. Money (looking at you COVID-19) and time are not promised.
  • my list will change. I will change and if I wanted to finish my list, it had to be flexible.
  • it was okay to not have all 30 things thought out on day 1. I could add (and subtract) from my list.
  • write it down, more importantly write it somewhere it can’t disappear, somewhere you cannot lose it.

Which brings us to No.29: Write a blog, and what better way to get us started than a 30 before 30 bucket list. Starting a blog is after all part of the list, No. 29 to be exact.
